_2 November 2026 · [npm](https://www.npmjs.com/package/@box-kite/react) · [Compare v2.2.13...v2.2.14](https://github.com/box-kite/box-kite/compare/v2.2.13...v2.2.14)_

`npm create @box-kite` now sets a new app up for its coding agent with `AGENTS.md`, `CLAUDE.md` and the MCP server, and `npm create @box-kite@latest -- --agents-only` adds the same to an existing project.

## A new app tells its coding agent how to write Box Kite, and one command does the same for an existing project

Box Kite is newer than any model's training data, so an agent writing it from memory produces code that compiles and is laid out wrong: `fontSize={4}` is 4px text, an `href` at the top level is dropped. `npm create @box-kite` now writes an `AGENTS.md` into the new app with the four facts a model gets wrong and a pointer to `node_modules/@box-kite/react/AGENTS.md`, the whole rules, which an upgrade keeps current. It also writes a `CLAUDE.md` importing it (Claude Code's spelling of the same file) and the MCP server's config for Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. `--no-agents` leaves them out.

For a project that already has Box Kite, one command adds the same files, merging rather than overwriting. It puts the block into your own `AGENTS.md` (replacing it in place on a later run), puts the import into your `CLAUDE.md`, and adds the server beside the ones your MCP configs already list:

```sh
npm create @box-kite@latest -- --agents-only
```

It writes an editor's MCP config only when that editor's folder is there, and leaves alone a config it cannot rewrite without losing your comments, printing the entry to add by hand. It replaces copying `AGENTS.md` out of `node_modules`, which the README and the docs used to ask for, and which left a copy that went stale with the next upgrade.
